SUNPRO Receives Service Awards from CSX Transportation

SUNPRO was the recipient of two awards at the 2016 CSX Environmental Contractors Conference in Savannah, Georgia earlier this year. Chris Curtis, Chicago Regional Manager, and Scott Lantz, Emergency Response Project Manager, both received Field Service Awards for their work in 2015. These awards join previous accolades SUNPRO has received from CSX, including seven Field Service Awards, two Awards of Excellence and the Performance Quality Award, which designated SUNPRO as the Top Contractor of the Year.

SUNPRO, Inc. Saves Shippers Time and Money with On-Site Testing and Approval of Loaded Railcars

SUNPRO, Inc. is proud to announce that it has received the Quality Assurance Program Certification from the Association of American Railroads as specified in M-1003. This certification allows SUNPRO’s Ohio Regional Office (SUNO) and Chicago Regional Office (SUNS) to conduct bubble leak testing of tank cars following the removal and replacement of tank car service equipment, including the changing of gaskets, valves, pressure relief devices, and more.

SUNPRO is now equipped and immediately available to perform on-site bubble leak testing of tank cars without requiring the unloading of product or a One Time Movement Approval (OTMA). After the installation of replacement service equipment is complete, SUNPRO’s trained and certified personnel can have a tank car tested and approved for transport in just a few hours, saving the shipper both time and money. This field service will eliminate the need to send railcars to Home Shops for small repairs, avoiding lengthy downtime.

Chicago Regional Rail Program Manager Dave Estep is overseeing all testing operations and is excited about providing this efficient service to tank car shippers and leasers.

“SUNPRO is set to provide even greater service to tank car owners,” Estep explained. “We already have years of experience in identifying and replacing faulty valves, gaskets, pressure relief devices, and other appurtenances. Now, we can typically have these tank cars tested and back in service the very same day.”

The Ohio EPA Recognizes SUNPRO’s Commitment to Excellence

The Sunpro Regional Emergency Response Manager for Ohio was recently contacted by an On-Scene Coordinator (OSC) of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) regarding a recent environmental project for a private client in Northeast Ohio. Sunpro had responded to a petroleum release resulting from an equipment fire. The OSC expressed that he was very pleased with Sunpro’s response team’s work, and specifically praised the SUNPRO Project Manager for his consistent professionalism, decisive decision making, and hard work; key attributes that he rarely sees from other contractors. “When Sunpro arrives on site, I breathe a sigh of relief,” he said.

Scott Denson and Matt Mendenhall each received an individual 2014 Field Service Award, while SUNPRO’s Chicago Regional Office received the 2014 Award of Excellence, a 2014 Field Service Award, and the Award of Recognition for “The Safety Train Energy Preparedness Program.” These accolades join past annual CSX awards received by SUNPRO, including individual Field Service Awards for Dave Estep and Scott Denson and the Performance Quality Award for Sunpro being designated the Top Contractor of the Year. SUNPRO thanks CSX for the honors and looks forward to continuing this award-winning level of service in the next year.
