Situation: A large wind turbine construction project required directional drilling beneath a protected wetland off the East Coast. A drilling “frack out” occurred, resulting in bentonite-based drilling mud escaping into the wetland, drawing environmental scrutiny and protests.
Wind Turbine Project – Wetland Drilling Remediation
Services Provided: One of our regular customers called us to stabilize and remediate the impact. The EnviroServe team installed multiple lift stations and booster pumps to collect and move drilling mud up to several feet. They designed layered sediment controls to slow and prevent further contamination, documented all actions and worked with a third-party wetland consultant for compliance.
Results: EnviroServe successfully restored the wetland area, improving its condition beyond the original state. Core logs and duck houses were installed for long term benefit. The project was completed in four to five months, passing regulatory audits and turning a potential PR crisis into a positive outcome for the client and the state.
